The best way to learn something new is to related it to something you already know. Use a metaphor so “This = That”. In becoming an electrical engineer one of the thing my teachers always said is to imaging electricity as water. “Electricity = Water” Now imagine a huge water tank with a tap at the bottom of it. The tap is hold back the water pressure in electricity this is called “voltage”. The tap is a “resistor” this limits the flow based on how open or closed it is. The flow of the water is the “current”. The basic understanding of the water tower metaphor will teach someone electricity because everyone has seen a water tower.

When you do not know something use what you know to help you understand what it’s like.

noiz viol8ion blog #338 – Are you asking the right questions?

With different questions come different answers?

The quality of your life is dictated by the answers you come up with to the problems of your life.

Asking question that no one has asked before you will come up with solutions that no one has ever come up with. You will make new connections and metaphors that no one else has noticed before. This will make you and your work unique.

Blog #202 – How to live with metaphors

What metaphor you use for life with change how you see the world.

    Life is a BITCH!

    Life is like a dance.

    Life is art.

    Life is a war.

Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get.

Each one of these metaphors will give your life a different meaning and cause you to take different actions. Whatever you think life is you will play into the story that you have given your life. The mind will make you right. If you say life is a blessing then you will act like it and be grateful for every moment you are alive.

Use metaphors to your advantage to make your life more exciting, playful and meaningful.
