If you are a generalist you know a little about a lot of things. If you are a specialist you go extremely deep on one topic. There are pro’s and con’s to both modes of operations. If you are a generalist then you can hire specialist around you. If you are a specialist you need a generalist to manage the pieces around you. Whichever one you are it is extremely important to surround yourself with people who are better than you.

People who have struggled with the same problems we have and can help us overcome it. The only thing we need to do is ask the right questions. Depending on the question you ask you will connect with much different people. People who will tear you down. People who will understand. People who will lift you up. The latter is who I want to be and who I want in my life.

Each new person that knows you will exponentially increase the amount of resources and opportunities that are available to you. Leverage you network for what you need.
Make yourself professional and pleasant to be around. Provide value to those close to you. Build a reputation for who you are. Be honest and open with people so they can help you. The more people know about you the more they can connect with you.
