The best way to lead is by example. If you want someone to do something you must be willing to do it first. Truly know what you are asking someone to do by experiencing it yourself. Feel the pain for yourself first. When you know something you can talk intelligibly about it and lead. You will be able to communicate more precisely on the exact outcome you want. You must be able to speak the language of the task. At least know the basics. 20% of your efforts will give you 80% of your understanding on the subject. If you need more understanding then hire an expert.

Many times I am only focused on myself. How do I feel? What people are thinking of me? What am I doing? What are they doing for me? This world is to big to only think of myself. If I want to do anything significant I need to think about other people. I must think about other people’s feelings? I must think about what they are doing? What are they thinking? What do they need? I must be able to understand where people are coming from. I must care about them as much as I care about myself.

Fix yourself first.
Do not worry about anything else but yourself at first. Just like in a crashing airplane, you are told to apply your own oxygen mask before helping others.
The more you are able to handle your own business the more you will be able to give and contribute to others.
Create good habits and limit bad habits. If you are working at your 100% then that energy is contagious and others will join you.
