    Blog #186 – Feeling Helpless?

    You may feel helpless because you are trained to be helpless.

    You have the power to change things in your life that you do not like. If you do not like your job then change it. If you do not like your body then change it. If you do not like how you feel then change it. If you do not like who you are then change it. If you do not like what you are doing then change it. If you do not like your friends then change them. If you do not like the results you are getting then change it. If you do not like how you are treated then change how you respond.

    People are living a life they are given instead of going out and creating the life they want. Life does not give a damn about you so if you don’t like something then speak up. You are in control. You have the power so stop giving it away to other people. Be your own boss. Manage your own emotions. Control your own behavior. Don’t let people take away your happiness because of things they say and do.

    Take the path of least resistance. The path that causes you less pain and more happiness.

    The pain of success is less than the pain of regrets.

    Notice the patterns between your rich friends and the poor friends.

    Success leaves clues and if you are aware enough then you will be able to pick up on the clues and adopt these habits into your own life

    Practice humility and seek out people who are better than you. People that can help you improve in areas of your life you want to improve in. Learn from them about what makes them successful. If they are healthy then what do they do in the area of health. If they are wealthy then what do in the area of wealth. If they have a successful business then what do they do to make it successful. If they are great investors what is their criteria to make an investment.

    Notice you deficiencies or certain areas that you would like to change or improve and seek out the people who can help you.

    On the flip side notice the unsuccessful people. What do they do to make them unsuccessful? What habits and beliefs do they have? What actions do they do to hurt themselves?

    Know what not to do is just as important as knowing what to do.

    What is it that you want more than anything else?

    What do you see yourself in possession of?

    Who do you see yourself becoming?

    How much money do you see yourself earning?

    You can have anything big or small.

    What drives you to get up in the morning?

    If you have a vision bigger than your current situation then how are you going to get there?

    Whether you know it or not you already have a vision of who you are and what you can become. You can either paint this vision yourself or allow others to paint it for you. You are in control of your own future.

    Imagine yourself living the life of your dreams. Where are you at? Who are you with? What are you doing?

    The more clear you become about your vision the easier it is to take massive action to get there. It may not be easy to obtain but your dreams are always worth working towards.

    Practice humility like you practice any other skill. Being humble keeps you from slipping. As soon as you think you do not need to do the things that got you where you are is when you start loosing and making mistakes. Being humble allows you to take criticism because you know who you are and you can make fun of yourself.

    Be humble enough to know that there is still more to learn. You are not at the end. You are still growing every single day. The world is your teacher and you are its student. Always be open and receptive to listen to what the world is trying to tell you.

    If you are real about what you want and are humble enough you will find things in unexpected places. You are not above anything.

    Be humble because there is always someone better than you. Learn from the competition, find mentors, read books, and practice everyday to get better.

    Put in the time to get better every single day.

    Practicing empathy will make you a better person. As you practice empathy it will benefit you and help you develop a deeper connection with the other person or group.

    Definition of empathy

    the action of understanding, being aware of, being sensitive to, and vicariously experiencing the feelings, thoughts, and experience of another of either the past or present without having the feelings, thoughts, and experience fully communicated in an objectively explicit manner

    Merriam Webster

    Practicing empathy will give you a whole new perspective and understanding. You will be able to understand why people make the decisions they make. You will be able to understand how to help them where they are.

    There is no judgement when practicing empathy. There is only understanding. Until you completely understand where a person is coming from and what they have been through then you will never be able to help someone. You will also never be able to help someone if you stay down at their level. You must meet them where they are and then lift them up.

    I have a strong desire to be loved. I extend myself and go out of my way to do things for people so they will love me. I help strangers. I help family. I help friends. I want to feel significant in this world. I want to be outstanding. I treat others like I want to be treated. If I was a business then I would have the best customer service in the world.

    This is your reputation. This is your brand. This feeling is how you get people to spread the word on what you are doing.

    Be so good that if people don’t share your services they will feel bad.

    We live in a world of infinite abundance. All your desires and all of your fears are never ending. If you fill one desire then you will want the next one. If you conquer one fear then there will always be a next one.

    This world has unlimited number of pleasures.

    Your potential to achieve anything is limitless.

    The love I share has no bounds.

    The only thing holding you back from infinite abundance and your potential is limiting beliefs. You have the ultimate power to change these beliefs. If you are not satisfied with any area of your life then change it. It may not be easy and probably requires hard work but you have the power.

    People know people. Everyone has played the Kevin Bacon game where everyone in the world is connected to Kevin Bacon in six degrees of separation. Who do you need to connect with? Each new person that knows you will exponentially increase the amount of resources and opportunities that are available to you. Leverage you network for what you need.

    Make yourself professional and pleasant to be around. Provide value to those close to you. Build a reputation for who you are. Be honest and open with people so they can help you. The more people know about you the more they can connect with you.

    Take the time to review where you are at. Look at how far you have come. Feel the progress from where you are now and where you were.

    What have you accomplished that you didn’t even think was possible?

    What are some of the major lessons you have taken away from the hardships you have been through?

    What are you most proud of?

    What are you least proud of?

    Reflect back on your life and use it as an ultimate learning experience for where you are going. Where are you going?

    What do you want to do and accomplish?

    What are you working towards? Have you made progress? Why? Why not?

    Out of all the things you could do what would be the one next step that would make the biggest difference towards reaching your ultimate goals

    Look forward to where you want to be and you will find a way to get there. Focus on what you want. What do you want? Why do you want this?

    This why is your driving force. The bigger the WHY the more motivation and determination you will have to accomplish you goals. Goals change over time so you have to STOP and REFLECT.

    Every decision you make is based off of these two rationals.

    1. To Avoid Pain
    2. To Gain Pleasure

    Simple.

    Once you know this is how you operate then you can use it to your advantage or it’s going to use you.

    If an overweight person doesn’t diet or exercise they associate massive amounts of pain to the decision to work out or diet. They will go through a litany of excuses about why they can’t or it doesn’t work for them. They will also associate massive amounts of pleasure to the unhealthy foods they eat and the lazy activities they perform.

    On the flip side if a fit person doesn’t diet or exercise they associate massive amount of pain to the decision not to go work out or diet. They associate massive amounts of pleasure to working out and the feeling they will get from eating right.

    To get over the hump on any decision you must enhance the amount of pain it’s going to cause and enhance the amount of pleasure you are going to gain.
