Everything I do I try to be right. I do my best to avoid being wrong. My avoidance of being wrong will not stop me. I handle defeat and failure by learning. I reflect on the causes for my failure and see what I can do different next time. There is a timeline starting at beginning and ending at master. Knowing where I am on this timeline helps me put into perspective that I still have plenty to learn. For things I am a beginner, I can not let failure stop me. Not matter what I have to move forward with complete confidence that I am going to succeed. If I fall then I get back up and try again.

Some dreams don’t come true and it hurts when they don’t. Over time failure after failure the pain is too much to overcome and scar tissue develops. We forget or are too scared to dream for the fear of failure. We’ve put ourselves out there so many times and it hurts when it doesn’t work out. We will fail more than succeed but you will never succeed unless you are willing to fail.

Successful people start before they are ready. There are many doubts, fears and limitations that if you try to cover for them all then you will never start. It is easy to get bogged down and overwhelmed with reasons why things will not work out. Of course you should do everything you can minimize failure but there is always a chance you will fail. Failure is a given. You are going to fail no matter what. The fear of failure should not stop you from starting because the more you try the more you have a chance to win.

When you are not scared to fail then you are free to succeed. The fear of failure will immobilize people from even trying or taking the first step. When failure does not exist then only good will come out of trying your best. Even when you fail you win because you learn. The only time you don’t learn is when you do nothing. The only thing you should be scared of is not learning and not growing.

To embrace failure is not to make failure feel better. Failure feels terrible and it should feel terrible. To embrace failure is to feel this terrible feeling. To soak this feeling in and do whatever it take to not feel it again. To use failure as a learning opportunity. When failure happens the important thing is to reflect on the failure and be curious as to why it happened and how you can avoid it next time.
Failure can be a motivator because it is so painful. The pain should not stop you from taking action the pain should motivate you to be more prepared. Failure can not be avoided but can be mitigated. The mitigation is your preparedness. How much did you practice? How much did you learn? How much effort did you put in?

You are going to fail. You are going to make mistakes. You are going to lose. There are many reasons you are going to fall off the horse. These could be doubts, fears and failure but there are limited reasons you get back on the horse. What are you reasons to keep going? Do you have the grit to not stop?
You must be willing to put it all on the line. You must know why you are putting yourself through the struggle. If your why is not big enough then you won’t get back on. Create compelling goals that you must accomplish.

Be a leader and start a community of like minded people. There are over 9 billion people in the world and many are looking to connect with people just like you. Starting a community creates leverage for you to be at the center of it all. You will learn from their experiences. You will gain from their failures. You can help others with your experiences and failures. Learn the methods and models that will help go from where you are to where you want to be.

What is the worst that could happen?
If you answer this and you can still survive then you might not be as scared to take the chance. If the reward is so big and you can handle the worst that can happen then you have to take the chance. You will get no where if you do not take chances. So take the biggest chances you can while understanding what the downside is. Be comfortable with the risk. Each step you take the risk is going to feel scarier but you are at a different point in the game. You have to stretch your comfort zone and be willing to take a few punches. Just don’t take the punch that will knock you out.

No matter what you do, do it without hesitation. Go at it with optimism. Visualize yourself doing everything right and if there is a mishap, recover gracefully. There is no success without “failure”. Failure like anything else is something that happens and what matters is how you frame it. Do you quit at the first failure or do you use it as a stepping stone. What lesson can you learn to avoid that mishap again. Failure is a learning opportunity. The worst thing you can do is tell yourself that you will not fail.
