Blog #216 – This is why you lack abundance

If you always think in scarcity then those things you think of will be scarce. If you always say, “I can’t afford it! It costs too much! I don’t have enough money!”

You are linking the feeling and emotions of lack to these things.

“If somebody offers you an amazing opportunity but you are not sure you can do it, say yes – then learn how to do it later!”

    Richard Branson

You are saying yes to your future self. You are aligning yourself with who you want to become and not who you are now.

You must be confident and comfortable with the risk you are taking. Do not be willing to risk it if you are not prepared to lose it. It is only a matter of time til you lose and you have to be comfortable with losing.

To make the hall of fame in baseball all you need to do is hit the ball 1 out of 3 times. Nobody is perfect.

You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.

Blog #212 – Questions for change.

To truly make a change you have to associate great pain with the staying the same and associate great pleasure with the desired situation.

Why is your current situation painful?

What would happen if you didn’t change?

What would happen if you did?

How will it affect others if you don’t change? How will it affect other if you do change?

How can you make this change as easy as possible?

What is stopping you from making this change?

What do you hope to get out of this change?

What action can you take to immediately begin this process?

    What is the process?

What are the biggest challenges you will face?

What will happen if everything goes right?

How come you have not taken action before?

How will this change help other people?

How will not changing hurt other people?

What are you not willing to do?

Will changing be better than remaining the same?

What are you going to enjoy the most after you’ve changed?

Blog #211 – Don't do anything until you do this.

    Fix yourself first.

Do not worry about anything else but yourself at first. Just like in a crashing airplane, you are told to apply your own oxygen mask before helping others.

The more you are able to handle your own business the more you will be able to give and contribute to others.

Create good habits and limit bad habits. If you are working at your 100% then that energy is contagious and others will join you.

Blog #210 – What is Social Proof?

People can be influenced easily by the masses. If someone is unsure of what to do they will often look to see what everyone else is doing and they will do that. This can be good or it can be very bad.

In the book, Influence by Robert Cialdini, it talks about how after a public suicide is highlighted on the front page of the newspaper then the number suicides will go up. These are the people on the edge and then get validated. This is a drastic example of social proof but I think this could be why school shootings are up.

We look to those around us for how we should act and what we should do.

You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.

Blog #209 – What you should know.

Know yourself better than anyone else.

Know your behavior. What makes you hurt? What make you feel good?

    Know what you want.

Know who your friends are and who your enemies are.

Know that change can happen in a moment. (We are now in isolation from a virus)

Know that your values and beliefs will be the sail that directs your life.

Blog #208 – How to get more done in less time.

There are many distractions and traps out there. Everyone is fighting over you attention. They want you to look at their profile, to like their picture, to buy their product, to see their show or for you to give them your attention. Your attention and focus are the most valuable thing you have.

How good you are at focusing is a predictor at how long its going to take you to finish something. If you know you are easily distracted then do what you can to eliminate distractions. Turn off notifications.

Start with short bursts of focused attention. Set a goal to focus on something for 5 min and no longer. Use interval focus to make progress. Keep making progress and it will become a lot easier.

Blog #207 – To get you have to give

The action of reciprocation is a powerful human instinct.

If someone gives you something then you feel obliged to return the favor. The funny thing is that the person you give something to doesn’t even have to like you. If you give them something then they will likely return the favor in even greater value.

People do not like to feel like they are in debt to people.

A small gift can get big returns.
