  • Blog #67 – Skill doesn’t matter but this does….

Don’t even worry about skill or how good you are. You are not the best person to judge your own talent. You will always want to be better. You will always think that it could be better. You will never be completely happy with where you are at. This is what drives you to do more. This is the hunger that you must have to get better. Nothing else matters besides this drive to keep going no matter what.

  • Blog #66 – Creating Content. Quantity vs Quality?

All business and artists are media companies. Listen to GaryVee and he will tell you that this is the best time to be alive because marketing and advertising is so cheap. The gate keepers have been knocked down and everyone is on a level playing field. Social media has become the great equalizer giving even the smallest of people a voice in a crowded world. To take advantage of this opportunity you must create content. And lots of it!

The debate between quantity and quality is easy on the surface but not on the inside. Everyone can agree that the more you do something the better you will be at it. So why not do as much as you can? Why not release as many posts, songs, videos and blogs as you can? The answer is because you’re selfish. You’re thinking about how people are going to judge YOU because YOUR work is not good enough. You’re thinking about how YOU can do better and YOU will wait. Whatever it is you’re thinking about it’s all about yourself.

Be more selfless. Think about others and what they need. Think about how the content will help what they are going through. Think about others more because you are willing to do more things for other people than you are yourself.

  • Blog #65 – The Fear of Professional

    Definition of PROFESSION:

    – the act of taking the vows of a religious community

    Merriam Webster

Going from amateur to professional can be very intimidating . Even the definition of Profession sounds like you are signing up for a cult. There are tons of amateurs and very few professionals. To cross this threshold you must prove yourself worthy. You must get a professional to vouch for you and let you in the circle. You will never get there unless you put your work on the line and take chances. You will never get there unless you fail over and over. It is intimidated because you are doing something you’ve never done. You are escaping the comfort of your own circle and going into uncharted territory. Be confident. Be Comfortable with Discomfort. Keep going.

  • Blog #64 – The Golden Rule is Flawed!

Let people thrive by being themselves. Do not try to change people or tell them how they should be doing things. Everyone is different and will come up with a different way to do the same thing. It may not be the way you would do it but no one is like you.

Even the “Golden Rule” is flawed because everyone wants to be treated different and if someone treats us how we don’t want to be treated then we get upset. They may be treating us that way because it is a different culture or any number of reasons.

It is our own expectations that causes us discomfort. The expectations of what others should be doing. The expectations of how we should be treated. The expectations that you are owed something. The expectations of who people are.

Trade your expectations for appreciation and your whole world changes in an instant.

    Tony Robbins

With no expectations you leave nothing to chance. You become a leader and do things for yourself. You are not waiting around for other people to do things for you. With no expectations everything becomes a surprise and a blessing. Expectations are always a let down. Lower the bar and appreciate all the small things.

  • Blog #62 – Is Reality a Figment of your Imagination?

Imaging being at a party. Music is playing and people are dancing. You look across the room and a fight breaks out. The cops come and take the two fighting people to jail. The two people get put in the hot seat and get interrogated. Each one of the people tells the interrogators what happened but each person has completely different stories. How is this possible? Who is telling the truth and who is lying?

Once something happens we rely on our memories to to retell the story. The memory can add things or leave things out. The memory is not the most reliable thing unless we emotionally charge our memories. Back in the day we remembered things like what caves to stay out of otherwise we might get eaten by a tiger. Now we remember reality TV stars names. Each person has different memories and each person will have their own interpretation of those memories..

  • Blog # 61 – Enjoy life like there’s no tomorrow.

Find as many opportunities as you can to enjoy yourself and the people around you. The daily routine can be monotonous and we must inject moments of joy into the day. Enjoy the day by knowing what makes you happy and then do it. Really enjoy these moments that you give yourself.

  • Blog #60 – Don’t blink or you’ll miss this chance.

The passage of time can be your best friend or your worst enemy.

A body at rest will remain at rest, and a body in motion will remain in motion unless it is acted upon by an external force

    Isaac Newton

All those items on your todo list. All those thing you should do. All the things you want to do but don’t have time. All of these things are remaining at rest because they are not acted up.

This is why if something is important to you then even the smallest progress is better than nothing. You are either getting better or worse. You are either progressing towards something or you are not. Time is your friend. Keep good things in motion and bad things at rest.

  • Blog # 59 – The First Step to Anything

More than anything you have to believe in yourself.

You have to have the belief and attitude you will do whatever it takes to make it happen. The obstacles do not matter because you have made the decision that whatever resistance happens you will overcome it. You have the perseverance, confidence and intelligence to solve any problem.

Even when you do something stupid and it is your fault you do not beat yourself up. You know you will learn from the mistake and do better next time. You have complete belief in yourself.

  • Blog #58 – This will take you through the hard times.

Perseverance will take you further thank you though you could go. When you think you can’t go any further remember why you started in the first place. Why did you take that first step? Why did you want to do this to begin with?

Tap back into that beginner you. Tap back into those initial motivations. There are always challenges that will make you question what you are doing. There are always opportunity costs for what you are doing but do not doubt yourself. Know yourself and what you need to do.

Do not let the failure discourage you because all it takes is one big moment. You are not defined by your failures unless you let them define you. Nobody remembers the loses except you. Keep your head up. Stay motivated and have perseverance.
