To do or be something else than what you are today then you must do things that you’ve never done before. This means stepping outside of your comfort zone. You have to start being comfortable with being uncomfortable. Going into this new territory there will be fear and uncertainty. There are a lot of unknowns because it is all new for you. Depending on how you see the situation it can be fearful or it can be exciting. Your perception can cause you to step up to the plate or back down for fear. Once you step up and keep stepping up it becomes natural. You will gain confidence and the results will follow.

Blog #102 – Build as much Momentum as you can!
Once you start something keep with it everyday. The repetition is the best way to learn and grow. If you are not getting better then you are doing too much. Simplify the process until the repetition becomes boring and then simplify it some more. Take it all the way back to the basics and start as small as possible. A daily habit is the best way to build momentum! Write a blog, do a crossword, practice an instrument, a sport. Make sure the goal is attainable. Reward yourself for long streaks. Stay motivated and don’t quit. The wins are in the process!

Blog #77 – Building a Snowball of MOMENTUM
Start. Finish. Repeat.
Follow all the way through with your actions. Go 100% and do not leave anything left. Do not let doubts or fears slow you down. There will always be some sort of resistance but the most important thing is to keep making progress. Good work habits and good decisions will make this progress go faster. The habits will increase your quantity and the decisions will increase your quality of work. With these two ingredients you will become unstoppable because the results will come flowing in. Your confidence and belief in yourself will grow where the doubt and resistance fade into the background. You will begin to only focus on things that will move you forward. You will take greater action. You will get better results and all of this will feed on itself.

Blog #54 – How to Change it Up
Too much of anything is not good for you. Not enough of something is bad for you.
We are all creatures of habit. We do the things that we do and stick to it. We wake up and goto work at the same time. We take the same route to work. We do the same things at work and get off at the same time. We come home the same way and watch the same shows. We will eat the same thing at the same restaurants.
When we do this it saves us from having to think. We made a decision previously for what the best thing to do is. Very Rarely do we go back and question these decisions unless we are forced to.
Staying in the same patterns will always get you the same results. If you are perfectly content then keep doing what you are doing. If you are not then it is time to change it up. Start small by changing your alarm clock by a minute or two. Change what side of you mouth you start brushing your teeth.

Blog #52 – The You You Are Becoming
The only person that matter is the person you are becoming. Your actions and your habits are creating your future self. If you eat donuts everyday you are becoming fatter. If you are running everyday you are becoming a better runner.
What do you want to be when you grow up? Who do you want to be?
Do not let other people define who you are. Going through school and being around a lot of people they want to put labels on you for who you are. Schools limit your creativity because you have to fit into their mold of who a smart, normal student is. If you’re not good at those things then you are cast out of the system and labeled a failure.
It doesn’t matter what anyone else labels you. It only matters how you see yourself.

Blog #44 – Take the Pain Out
Often times the most painful thing is to start.
To start playing an instrument. To start speaking a different language. To start writing a blog. To start working out. To start cooking at home more. To start being more vulnerable. To start saving money. To start your creative process.
There is an unbelievable amount of motivation that one must have to start anything. If you are like me and most people then this motivation comes and goes. I’ll be good for a day or a week or a month and then I’ve fallen off the motivation wagon. Usually I fall off because progress is too slow or I get bored. Then I do not get back on until I am motivated again. This could take weeks, months, or even years. There is a better way to start than to rely on this invisible motivation meter.
Think of what you want to start and how you can make it a habit. Once something is a habit it becomes natural and does not require any motivation.
To create a habit you need a trigger, the action and then a reward.
For example if you want to start working out then the trigger could be once you get off work or set an alarm on your phone or right after you wake up. Once the trigger happens you know its time to do the work but once you do it then reward yourself. And make the reward big enough to get you excited to take the action.
What is your trigger? What is your action? What is your reward?

Blog #41 – Trust the Process
Trust the process
Trust the process
Stop not trusting the process.
If you have a creative process then you know what it is like to not trust the process. You know what it is like to over think and over analyze every little detail because things have to be perfect. The work is a reflection of you and people will judge you for it. They will say things about you that hurt and worst of all they are true.
Your work does suck! It’s true nobody likes your work! It’s true no one knows who you are! It’s true there tons of people that have more likes and followers. It’s true that your never going to be a star! All of these things sting because they are true. Whatever someone says is true to the person that said it. In that person’s mind I am worthless. They are their own judge and jury for my work. Their opinion is as valid as the next person’s.
The next person is a fan and loves everything you do! You can do no wrong! They worship the ground you walk on and support your work. They have your work in their house and it brings them joy everyday. Your work has changed their life for the better!
Each of these people are going to happen to you as long as you keep putting out work. No matter what you will get better over time if you are trust the process. The ride is going to be a roller coaster so buckle up and be tough enough to handle anything.

Blog #4 – The Grind
The grind is a dangerous beast!
It must be handled with extreme caution and planned out carefully. It takes precedent over how you feel and what you want. It takes the thinking out of your day and allows for freedom or captivity.
The power of habits are incredible!
Habits can be CONSTRUCTIVE or DESTRUCTIVE.
To me it feels like the destructive habits are easily formed and hard to break. On the flip side the constructive habits are hard to form and easy to break. Notice all your habits in your life. What is your wake up routine? What is the first thing you do when you get to work? What is the chain of events that happens when you come home? How do you answer the phone? What do you say when someone asks, “How are you?” These are all opportunities to enhance our habits. Once you understand the power of habits then the you must take action by placing good habits in your life. We are creatures of habits and if you want a better life you need better habits.
