  • Blog #39 – The Gut, The Heart, The Mind

There are many organs that people make decisions with. Each one has a unique feeling in your body telling you what the right decision is. Sometimes they fight with each other and you do not know which one to side with. We tend to side with one over and over again casting the others to the side.

Which one do you use the most?

Whichever one you chose is exactly why you are in your current situation.

For me I tend to side with the Mind. I need to think about things before I make a decision. I need to think of a response before I say anything. I plan things out and like numbers. I am an engineer and create systems in my life. Systems to eat better. Systems to work out. Systems to track finances. Systems to make money. Systems to build relationships. Systems to be happy.

Siding with the Mind will give you drastically different results than siding with the Heart.

The Gut is strong and if not done can lead to regret. The heart is fiery and vulnerable. The mind is logical and realistic. Each one has their own strengths and weaknesses that will help you succeed or trip you up.

  • Blog #38 – The Components of Change

Imagine being at the top of the Grand Canyon. Looking out and see the impressiveness of the Grand Canyon. The depth of the canyon is one of the largest in the world. The Grand Canyon did not appear out of no where.

The Colorado River carves through the middle of the grand canyon. The water has been carving the rocks deeper for the last 6 million years. Slowly over time the water relentlessly wears down the stones. Eroding the rock to create one of the most impressive wonders in the world.

To create change you must be like water flowing through the Grand Canyon. You must keep wearing down the resistance. The resistance is the thing that keeps you from doing what you should be doing. You should be reminding yourself of your priorities and goals. Staying focused on what is important. There are so many things you could focus on and most often we focus on what is wrong or worry about things we can not control. You have the power and are the one in control. Do not be the stone be the water. Be willing to change and adapt. Take the path of least resistance. If it is painful then you are not doing it right. Do what is right for you and stop fighting yourself.

Accept that things are going to take time. Know how much time those things are going to take and pay your time. If you want to get better you have to plan to get better. You have to practice and repeat the same thing over and over again. Over time you will be better than you are now.

What do you want to get better?

What change do you want to happen?

  • Blog #37 – How to have ENDLESS ENERGY!

If your like most people then after the lunch hour and after we get home from work there is this drain of energy. We need a break. We don’t want to do anything. We want to relax, take it easy or just watch tv.

What if you didn’t get tired?

What if you were just as refreshed and energized as you are on your way to work?

What would you do with all this extra energy?

People do not have this extra energy because they do not need it. We need to exert the minimum amount of energy required to get the job done. Even when we are tired something can happen and we tap into this extra energy. A friend or family member needs us and we do whatever it takes to help. There is problem that needs to be fixed.

We must have something outside of ourselves that pulls us to step up and do something. When this happens we stop thinking about ourselves and how we feel and go into action mode.

This is how we must set our goals. Set them so big and outside of ourselves that we need an endless supply of energy to accomplish them.

  • Blog #36 – Life’s Golden Rule

Treat others the way you want to be treated.

We all know this one and our taught it at a very young age but we all still need to be reminded.

The other part that is not taught is that we should also treat ourselves the way we want others to treat us.

There is no love without self love. We can only give what we have and if there is nothing inside there is nothing to give. Spreading positive energy is a practice. Start small with compliments or a smile.

Everything you give will come back to you. All the nice things you do for people will come back around when you least expect. When you are at your lowest moment there will be people there to pick you up. This is the greatest way to win. The more you help other people win the more you will win.

  • Blog #32 – Priorities or nah

If you do not set your own priorities then someone else will do it for you.

If you do not make yourself a priority then no one else will.

Think of all your priorities. There are so many that it is hard to keep track of them all unless your write them down. Once they are written down then you will notice some similarities between them. These similarities are the higher order similarities. For example if you have on your list: 1. Lose 10 pounds. 2. Eat better 3. Excercise. These are all health related.

I think there are 4 priorities that are universal to everyone. These are:

    1. Health
    2. Wealth
    3. Happiness
    4. Love

Maximizing these 4 categorize should be the reason things make your to-do list.
